Inter Milan Beat Roma to Regain Top Spot in Serie A
Milan's Hard-Fought Victory
Inter Milan secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Roma at the San Siro on Saturday to reclaim the top spot in Serie A. The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating chances throughout the 90 minutes. However, Inter's clinical finishing proved to be the difference on the day.
Inter took the lead in the first half through a Lautaro Martinez header. The Argentine striker rose highest to meet a cross from Nicolo Barella and gave the home side the advantage. Roma responded well to going behind and leveled the scores shortly after the break through Tammy Abraham. The English forward latched onto a long ball over the top and finished coolly past Samir Handanovic.
Inter regained the lead just minutes later when Edin Dzeko tapped in from close range. The Bosnian striker was on hand to convert a cross from Denzel Dumfries and give Inter a 2-1 lead. Roma continued to push for an equalizer but were unable to find a way past Handanovic.
Inter sealed their victory in the closing stages when Joaquin Correa fired home a low shot from outside the box. The Argentine winger's goal put the game beyond Roma's reach and ensured Inter's return to the top of the table.
