Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to take his Champions League tally to 100 goals as holders Real Madrid beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg of their semi-final on Wednesday. The Portuguese forward's goals came in the 44th, 77th, and 84th minutes, as Real Madrid took a narrow advantage into the second leg in Munich on Tuesday, May 1.

Bayern Munich had taken the lead through Joshua Kimmich in the 28th minute, but Ronaldo's hat-trick turned the game on its head. The result means that Real Madrid are now in a strong position to reach the Champions League final for the third time in four years.

Real Madrid will be looking to build on their first-leg advantage when they travel to Munich for the second leg next Tuesday. Bayern Munich will need to score at least two goals to have any chance of reaching the final.
