Reece Walsh ruled out of Origin III after NRL judiciary hearing
Brisbane Broncos fullback to miss decider after being found guilty of contrary conduct
Brisbane Broncos fullback Reece Walsh will miss Origin III after being found guilty by the NRL judiciary on Tuesday of contrary conduct. Walsh was charged after an incident involving Maroons teammate Edrick Lee during Queensland's 22-12 defeat to New South Wales in Origin II on Sunday night.
The 21-year-old was found guilty of contrary conduct for a "hip drop" tackle on Lee in the 74th minute of the match. The tackle was deemed to be unnecessary and dangerous by the judiciary. The suspension means that Walsh will miss Queensland's crucial Origin III match against New South Wales in Brisbane on July 13.
Walsh has been in impressive form for the Broncos this season, scoring 10 tries in 13 games. He is a key part of Queensland's plans for the future and his absence will be a major blow to the Maroons.
The Broncos have confirmed that Walsh will return to the club on a three-year deal from 2023 after he secured an early release from the New Zealand Warriors.
